What are the 7 dolors (sorrows) of Mary?

  1. The phophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:34–35)

  2. The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13–15)

  3. The loss of Jesus in the temple for 3 days (Luke 2:41–51)

  4. The Carrying of the Cross (John 19:17)

  5. The Crucifixion of Jesus (John 19:18-30)

  6. Jesus Taken Down from the Cross (John 19:39-40)

  7. Jesus Laid in the Tomb (John 19:39-42)

We can pray the 7 Sorrow of Mary Rosary to learn to suffer with love as Mary did. We pray to understand our suffering and sorrows.

We can also meditate on the 7 Sorrows of Mary

Fr. Chad Ripperger, founder of the Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother, is a Catholic priest in the Archdiocese of Denver, specifically dedicated to exorcism and deliverance ministries. He has spoken many times both in interviews and his books of the importance of asking Our Lady of Sorrows to reveal to us what is hidden that we may know. An example would be if you have a child who is fallen away from the church or involved in a relationship that is not Christ-entered, you can ask Mary under her title of Our Lady of Sorrows "what are we dealing with?" For yourself, you can ask her to reveal to you any of your spiritual defect that need to be overcome. (Watch Fr Ripperger talk about this here: The Seven Sorrows of Mary and their Powerful Promises. He has stressed that her assistance in quite powerful in the conversion of family members.

As we fight our daily battles and try to overcome temptations, let us remember that Mother Mary is a powerful intercessor for us and is eagerly waiting to help us with these struggles.

Our Lady of Sorrows, pray for us!
