All Saints & All Souls
November 1st is All Saints Day... Traditionally Catholic schools will have the students dress up as their favorite saint and the day would start with Mass and usually end with a party to celebrate the saints in heaven. If you are homeschooling your children or they go to a school that doesn't celebrate All Saints Day you could create a special day to celebrate! Have your child dress up as his/her favorite saint, read a book or watch a movie about that saint (a couple of our

Poor Souls in Purgatory
The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a “purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven,” which is experienced by those “who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified” (CCC 1030). It states that “this final purification of the elect . . . is entirely different from the punishment of the damned” (CCC 1031). This purification is necessary to attain heaven, "nothing unclean will enter the presence of G

Novena for Expectant mothers
St Gerard Majella is one of the many patron saints of expectant mothers, women in childbirth, children, unborn children, mothers, and motherhood. His feast day October 16th and below is a powerful novena for pregnant women to recite, calling on St. Gerard's intercession: In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Amen. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life." [1, 2] Some facts that you may not know: At t

St Pio of Pietrelcina
My favorite Saint! I remember the first time I saw a picture of St. Pio, I was about 6. My nonna had a small tattered picture. I was so drawn to his face, I felt so much love looking into his eyes. I began praying to him everyday. I remember preparing for my First Holy Communion, we used the Baltimore Catechism and had many Saint books available to read. My mom made sure we said the Rosary as a family at night and she would say "bring your Guardian Angel and saints with you
