Guardian Angels
How much do we really know about our guardian angels? Did you know that everyone in the world was assigned a guardian angel? Did you know that your guardian angel will only act if asked? According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 336): "From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life." [1, 2]
Some facts that you may not know:
At the moment of their creation, angels were shown God’s entire plan for salvation. Your guardian angel was given his mission specifically to guard you. Your angel chose to accept that mission as a profound act of love toward you, and by saying "yes" to protecting you, he retained his designated place before the throne of God
Angel-to-Angel Communication: You can ask your guardian angel to go speak to the guardian angel of your child, your spouse, or boss to help in a difficult situation.
We can pray to our guardian angel to reveal our defects and we can ask them for interior humiliation to be able to see our faults. Our guardian angel wants eternal salvation for us.
Protect Your Sleep: Ask them to guard your imagination while you sleep to prevent spiritual attacks or nightmares.
It has been said that we should not name our guardian angel. We have zero authority over angels.
Angels operate heavily on our free will and direct requests. Because they respect human freedom, they will not automatically micromanage your life unless invited to do so.
As parents we should encourage our children to call on the help of their guardian angel DAILY, for any an all needs. I call on my guardian angel when I get in my car for safe travels and to protect those around me. I send my guardian angel to my children's guardian angel to block any relationships that are bad for them and would move them away from the Church.
My guardian angel works overtime for sure! I send him to the alter at Mass with a laundry list of requests! I send him to St. Padre Pio to ask for healing and for my family to always have love for Christ, the Blessed Mother, and the saints. I call on my guardian angel when I am feeling that a situation is unsafe or "not quite right".
The beauty of our guardian angels is that they were assigned to us from God. That is why they were created, and they cannot act on our behalf unless we ask! We need them in or corner when we die, we need them daily when we struggle, we need them when we travel, when we are going for that interview, when we are going on that first date.
I talk to my guardian angel like a friend. I ask for everything! I have multiple stories of how my guardian angel has showed up for me in desperate times and has guided me on the road I need to travel.
O Holy Guardian Angel, my defender and protector, I ask you to watch over me this day/night.
Guard my senses, protect my imagination,
and drive away all evil temptations and distractions.
Command the enemy to depart from me,
and help me to always choose the will of God.
Amen.
