October has been the month of the rosary for decades thanks to Pope Leo XIII, who was an advocate of the rosary and wrote 11 encyclicals on the rosary in just 5 years! Thanks to Pope Leo XIII October was dedicated as the month of the rosary.

Pope St. Pius V established October 7th as the feast of "Our Lady of the Rosary" in 1571 to celebrate the victory of the Christian forces in the battle of Lepanto.

St. John Paul II called the rosary his favorite prayer. He could often be seen praying the rosary while hiking. He wrote his encyclical “Rosarium Virginis Mariae,” he described the Rosary as a prayer that “mystically transports us to Mary’s side, as she watches over the human growth of Christ in the home of Nazareth…. enabling her to mold us with the same care, until Christ is ‘fully formed’ in us.”

Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the three shepherd children on October 13th, 1917 in Cova da Iria in Portugal and told them to continue to pray the rosary every day. You can visit the official website for more information: Fatima

So many lives have been changed by the simple act of praying the rosary daily. This powerful prayer should be one of the first things that you add to your daily routine if you want to deepen your faith and grow closer to Jesus!
